Memo

Date: January 16, 2008

To: President & Members of the Senate,

Re: Economic Stimulus / Bailouts

Ladies & Gentlemen,

The economy is lagging and now is the time to offer real stimulus.

Contrary to what President-elect Obama has said, the government is not the only answer for breaking the cycle that is crippling our economy. Passage of his statist plan that includes increased federal spending would usher in trillion-$$$-dollar deficits for "years to come".

I reject Obama’s big-government vision, and his "whole new approach" idea. I will not blindly accept this massive spending hike--a hike that only increases the size and scope of the government, while passing the buck to future generations.

America needs a free market approach, a slashing of corporate and middle class taxes so that businesses and individuals can confidently move forward. Move us forward by doing the only thing that has proven to work--cut taxes and decrease federal spending.

"The same prudence which in private life would forbid our paying our own money for unexplained projects, forbids it in the dispensation of the public moneys." -- Thomas Jefferson
"We are not afraid to entrust the American people with unpleasant facts, foreign ideas, alien philosophies, and competitive values. For a nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people.” -- John F. Kennedy

--------------------------------------------------

As uniquely blessed people and citizens of the greatest FREE nation in the world, it is the Constitutional right of all Americans to reject higher taxes, maintain independence from big government oppression, and exercise true freedom as a beacon of hope for mankind. It is with this in mind that I urge Congress to reject further bailouts / stimulus packages and allow private / financial market sectors to provide the best solutions to banking and budget needs of our businesses, families and the futures of our children.

On behalf of all Americans, I urge you to act responsibly regarding these important issues...to once again serve the people, strengthen and uplift positive attitudes, inspire bi-partisan leadership with fiscal responsibility, and promote unity for the benefit of ALL.

I look forward to your positive response.

Sincerely,

Robert W Butler Jr
